Tony Mitton

Poet & Children's Writer

Book Me

Please note that as from 15th October 2010 I will be restricting the number of events on offer. I will still be available for single one-off events, such as performance-talks to conferences (eg students, teachers, librarians, literary groups or gatherings) and selectively to festivals. Any in-school events I do will be limited to those within a one-hour (approx) travelling time from Cambridge. Also school events can only be part-day (ie two performing sessions, or three where two are 30/40 minute sessions). If in doubt, or very keen to access me in particular, just ask through Authors Aloud : www.authorsalouduk.co.uk As from September 2012 I may be prepared to travel further afield for events. I am still unlikely to undertake more than one or two events per day, however. I am available for bookings in schools, libraries and similar venues, depending on time and workload. As a rule I give performances rather than workshops. These cater for age groups ranging between Nursery and Key Stage 2 (eg 4--11 yrs). A performance normally consists of telling poems, showing picture books, teaching and sharing finger & action rhymes, talking about the processes of writing and publishing, & giving children the opportunity to ask questions individually in open forum. I use my own material: a range of poems short & long, traditional & contemporary, lyric & narrative, humorous & serious, performance & literary. Sessions are, of course, adjusted to suit the age-range and size of each group. I am equally comfortable with very small or very large groups, and can, on request, cater for mixed age groups.
